Drainage and construction at Casa BelSam
Today my courtyard became a construction site. Drainage pipes needed to be replaced so they brought in a big machine and dug up my yard and my pavement (How did they get the machine in? How did they get it out? It was so big!).

After a full day's work, the machine left (How? It was so big!) and my courtyard now looks like this:

The rubble gets moved out on Monday and then the pavement replaced in two-three weeks time. Of course, this happened just as the weather is warming up and I want to be outside and entertain people! But it had to be done, so there's not a lot anyone can do about it.

Poor Lucy hated it, and spent most of the day alternating between hiding under the bed and sitting on my lap. When I let her out after the construction guys had left, she followed me around for a bit toddler style, then skedaddled as far away from the scary courtyard as she could. She's back in the courtyard now, but I would put a lot of money on some of that rubble now being covered in cat pee...

BLOGTOBERFEST UPDATE: 14 down, 17 to go!

Hopefully they'll finish it when they say they will so you'll be able to be sit outside again. With Lucy of course. I had to laugh at the cat pee bit. We're having a pergola built soon so I can't imagine what my girls are going to think of that process.

I bet they'll hate it when it's being built and then love it when it's up. Two days later and Lucy still won't spend any time in the courtyard, poor little thing! She must have been really spooked.
